Find Clean Air Routes with Real-time Air Quality App

HKUST Institute for the Environment has recently launched a new smart city mobile app PRAISE-HK (Personalized Real-time Air-quality Informatics System for Exposure – Hong Kong) that helps users reduce their exposure to outdoor air pollution and will help build Hong Kong into a world-class smart and healthy city.

PRAISE-HK makes use of street-level air quality maps powered by world-leading technologies to provide real-time air quality analysis with over 90% accuracy as well as health risk information and air quality forecast for up to 48 hours. Users can access this useful information on the PRAISE-HK app and take the corresponding action, in particular, to avoid highly polluted areas and to reduce short-term exposure risks that make a huge difference for people who are sensitive to air pollution.

The PRAISE-HK app is developed by HKUST cross-disciplinary experts, the use of several important technologies ensures forecast accuracy. Prof. Alexis LAU of HKUST Division of Environment and Sustainability and PRAISE-HK Principal Investigator believes “we have entered the Artificial Intelligence era. We could and we should combine innovations and new technologies to solutions for a smarter and healthier living style.”
