Can We Live beyond 120 Years Old?

Over the past few decades, scientific advancement offers new intervention to our everyday lives, improves working efficiency, allows better communication, upgrades medical services and tools that eliminate symptoms and diseases, and eventually extends our life span. Is living beyond 120 years physically and biologically feasible at all? How would it change the world we are living in and should we be better prepared to face the new challenges facing mankind? The talk will address some of these issues, and will bring us to a discussion between life and living, and how one should get ready for this brave new world.

 

Eat Healthily and Smartly

Nowadays, we are so blessed to have abundant and diverse food supply. Eating healthily has attracted more and more concerns, since people always expect to be healthy and fit while enjoying tasty food. Accordingly, there are various so-called healthy/functional food on the market. Also from time to time, we are told by our family that something is good for our health, so we should eat more. However, most of these claims have no substantiated evidences from the angle of science. How do we tell if they are right or wrong? Differentiating the myth and truth has become an increasingly inevitable question in our lives. Who can tell us what is the truth? Through this talk, the speaker will first introduce the fundamental knowledge in food science and technology, then share the methods on making a judgement and selection. The audience will obtain basic skills in evaluating their diet, healthy/function food and the genetically modified food. Ultimately, we wish everyone can eat healthily and smartly.
